This vomiting bug has been widely reported in the press, and many thousands of people have suffered from it in recent months.  Although it is self limiting, to around 48 hours, sufferers can become dehydrated which can lead to further problems, particularly for babies, children and the elderly.

As it is a virus, antibiotics will not be prescribed, but homeopathy can help.

Here are the most frequently prescribed remedies for this particular illness.  If you are uncertain which is the most appropriate, please phone me to discuss your symptoms.

Phosphorus 30	Frequent vomiting with a thirst for ice cold drinks.  Vomiting will often occur 15 minutes after drinking. Note: After one dose of Phosphorus, the patient is likely to vomit again
Arsen Alb 30	Vomiting and diarrhoea with great distress and restlessness.  Patient may be thirsty for small sips of water
Ipecac 30	Constant nausea and frequent vomiting, however vomiting gives no relief from the nausea.  Patient is likely to have a clean tongue
China 30	Vomiting and diarrhoea with a temperature and sweating.  Patient is exhausted.

Dosage:  Take one tablet and wait 30 minutes to see if the patient feels better.  If the improvement continues, no further doses are required.  If the patient relapses after an improvement, give another dose of the same remedy.

Note:  Falling asleep is a good sign, and generally signals an improvement, particularly for children.

Other advice:  To lessen the risk of getting the virus, wash your hands frequently in soap and water, and keep hydrated. Get plenty of a fresh air, and take Echinacea & Vitamin C supplements to boost your immunity. 

After the virus:  If a sufferer has become very dehyrated, rehydration salts in sachets are available from all pharmacies.
